News John Goodenough contribution to industry training recognised 30 SEPTEMBER 2019

John Goodenough's achievements were celebrated at the Connexis Annual Connection 2019 Excellence Awards dinner, as he took out the major award: Investing in Youth Training and Development. This award is for an individual who has made a significant contribution to training in the electrical supply industry.

John (a.k.a. JG) was Connetics' General Manager of Service Delivery until he retired from full time work in early 2019.

Over his 49 years in the Electricity Supply Industry, John played critical roles in many initiatives in service of creating opportunities for people in the industry, including the development of the Connetics apprenticeship programme, which has been completed by well in excess of 100 trainees.

John worked with many electrical boards and ITOs to develop unit standards and formal qualifications that did not previously exist for some roles. He also worked with Orion NZ Ltd to help the local polytechnic get ‘Trade Fit’ off the ground – in order to give people a realistic interpretation of what the electricity supply industry involved.

These are just some of the many initiatives that JG was involved in and it is great that his efforts have been recognised on an industry stage. Congratulations John.
